Module Description: 

Data-driven decision making contributes to systemic change. Collecting data from the community should be a deliberate process aimed at gathering valuable and relevant information while prioritizing meaningful engagement. This module will provide an overview of data collection strategies when working with deaf people. In addition to providing some concrete examples of data collection practices, this module will also briefly discuss data analysis and dissemination.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this module, the learner will be able to:

  • Describe the importance of the why, what, and how of collecting data from the deaf community
  • Identify the three main types of data that can be collected and what that can tell you
  • Define common approaches to collecting quantitative and qualitative data
