A successful semester start is crucial for any student’s academic achievement, and disability service professionals play a significant role in supporting their students. This pre-recorded webinar is specifically designed to assist Disability Services Providers in preparing and planning accommodations for deaf students. The presenters will guide participants through useful tips and strategies, starting with the initial meeting with deaf students and engaging in an interactive process to inform accommodation decisions. The NDC’s Help Team specialists will also address commonly asked questions regarding implementing accommodations and developing campus-wide policies and procedures for effective communication access. Upon completing the webinar, participants will have access to NDC resources that support working with diverse deaf students and communication needs.

  • Explain the purpose and 5 key components of “effective communication” as defined by U.S. Department of Justice
  • Conduct a deaf-centered interview to plan accommodations with deaf people
