Peer Notetaker Training: Effective Services for Deaf Students

Training Module Description:

As a peer notetaker, you play an essential role in supporting access for deaf students in class. Even when instructors provide lectures, slides, or recordings, having clear, organized notes can make a big difference in supporting someone as they review, understand, and keep up with the material. Your notes help fill in the gaps and provide a reliable way for your classmate to stay connected to what’s happening in the course.

Learning objectives – In this training, you will learn:

  • How to take high-quality notes for someone else

  • Ways to communicate effectively with deaf students

  • How to build professional rapport and maintain boundaries
