Webinar Description: 

To ensure that events are accessible to all participants, event coordinators, venue staff, and disability services professionals can collaborate and plan in advance. This presentation will offer a comprehensive overview of the essential components involved in coordinating accommodations to support diverse communication needs, such as those of deaf graduates and audience members. Focusing on the core principle of effective communication, this session will provide participants with valuable planning tips, tools, strategies, and solutions for creating an accessible graduation event, both in-person and online.

 

Learning Objectives – Participants will be able to:

    • Identify resources and relationships necessary to plan accessibility into graduation ceremonies.

    • Explore accommodation, auxiliary aid, and/or technology options commonly used at graduation in person and online.

    • Create a plan for upcoming graduation ceremonies using tips, strategies, and tools provided by the National Deaf Center.
