Jana (she/her) is a certified hearing interpreter who started teaching in 2016 as a workshop presenter and an adjunct instructor with the Interpreter Training Program at UW-Milwaukee. Jana graduated in 2022 with a Master of Arts in Interpreting Studies and Communication Equity from St. Catherine University with a research focus on collaborative interpreting in video remote settings. She holds legal certification in the Wisconsin court system, and works in the post-secondary setting as a staff interpreter and coordinator for Madison Area Technical College. Jana also works with St. Catherine University’s CATIE Center providing curriculum development and asynchronous course design, and with the National Deaf Center as a consultant on instructional design, service coordination, and disability services. Jana has a passion for people and fostering authentic relationships. She embraces vulnerability as a teacher, mentor, and colleague while talking all things related to the field.
