What is your greatest challenge/barriers that exist with campus resources at your institution?
I feel the biggest barrier my system is facing right now is focusing on accommodations instead of taking a more holistic approach and considering the entire campus experience. Too often I feel like the discussion is about communication access for the classroom setting when there is so much more to the college experience. How are deaf students engaging in being part of the greater campus community? How inclusive are our institutional practices? What can we be doing to reduce systematic barriers and built in inclusivity from the start? I would love to have a conversation on this topic and see what others are doing at their institution.
