Module Description:

This module provides a detailed look at assistive technology used in training and workplace settings to support deaf people. Topics include interpreting services, assistive listening devices (ALDs), hearing aids, cochlear implants (CIs), visual alarms, speech-to-text (STT) technology, and other relevant technologies. Participants will learn about the benefits of these technologies and how they can enhance accessibility and productivity in the workplace.

Learning objectives – Participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of assistive technologies, their relevance to supporting deaf trainees and employees, and how to apply this understanding to create accessible workplaces.
  • Identify actionable strategies for implementing assistive technologies and creating environments where deaf trainees and employees feel valued and supported.
  • Develop strategies for training programs and provide ongoing support to ensure the continued effectiveness of assistive technologies in training and workplace settings.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate training and workplace policies that promote accessibility, incorporating regular feedback and continuous improvement to effectively support trainees and employees.
