I went to Utah for the University of Texas leadership trip.
We went backpacking along the Utah trails for about three, four days. So was an interpreter going to backpack with me the entire time? That’s awkward. Instead I asked everyone to go download the Ava app, because I knew it would benefit them and they did.

When a film was shown without closed captions, I would ask the instructor if the video was captioned or not. When they indicated they did not know, I would ask them to please find out, because without it, I can’t understand the film.

I frequented this particular hangout spot. And I would ask them to turn on the captions on their TVs. I went often enough, they would turn it on before I even arrived.
