Deafverse: Legends of the Eldertree launches TODAY!

The wait is over, Deafverse is back with a brand new world!

Deafverse: Legends of the Eldertree is a free, online educational game designed to help deaf teenagers prepare for life after high school. This is Deafverse like you’ve never seen it before. Set in the magical world of Eldertree Vale—filled with glowing trees, mysterious ruins, and talking creatures—this fresh, immersive story equips players with college readiness skills through fantasy, exploration, and self-discovery.

Built with deaf youth in mind, the game is accessible from the start with ASL narration, English transcription, and audio voiceovers. It’s even playable on both desktop and mobile! Get ready to dive into college life and meet unforgettable characters, all while developing knowledge and skills for life after high school.

What’s Inside the Game?

Drop into Eldertree College, a mountain town full of glowing trees, ancient magic, and talking animals (yes, really!). You’re the newest student, and your choices shape your journey. Around town and campus, people whisper about the elves who have vanished, and the strange secrets lurking in the ruins they’ve left behind.

Along the way, you’ll find yourself opening your tablet to zip to your first day of class. Surprise, surprise, it’s Elven Studies—your professor’s taking you on a field trip to the massive, magical Eldertree! You and your class will have to cross a river, where you’ll choose between sharing a boat with your interpreter in it, or sending them off in their own boat. The question is: do you want to be best friends with your interpreter, or do you want to keep it professional?

You’ll have to answer that question and many more as you navigate through Legends of the Eldertree! Throughout the game, as you make friends, attend classes, and solve mysteries, you’ll also be learning how to:

  • Travel around the map—a feature new to Deafverse!
  • Navigate the college application process, financial aid, accommodations, and more.
  • Build connections and community around Eldertree Vale.
  • Advocate for yourself to break through barriers to access.
  • Complete fun quests and unlock magical badges.

Legends of the Eldertree was built to boost self-advocacy and self-determination skills. People who are self-determined are good problem solvers because they figure out how to reach goals at school, work, and home, even when they run into problems. In fact, research shows that deaf youth who develop these skills in high school are more likely to enroll in college, live independently, have positive self-beliefs, make more money at work, and even have more opportunities for career advancement!

Whether you’re a teacher, parent, or transition counselor, Legends of the Eldertree is more than a game, it’s a ready-to-use educational tool. Use it to spark conversations, support transition planning, or introduce key college readiness topics in a way that’s accessible, fun, and student-driven. With a free teacher account, you can even track student progress with our Deafverse Classroom platform and support their learning every step of the way.
