“Featuring the Field”
Guide for Writers and Contributors
“Featuring the Field” is an opportunity for disseminating current practices and consumer experiences in postsecondary settings. We welcome you to share your experiences and expertise with our network on NDC’s listserv. Posts may highlight standard practices, systems change, evidence-based practices, or reducing barriers in postsecondary settings.
Sample Topics:
- Establishing a program and/or policy within your organization
- Supporting graduate-level deaf students
- Coordinating communication access technology/services for internships
- Partnership experiences with local or state agencies to offer deaf youth programming
- Strategies for supporting deaf people and English language learning
- Considerations before hiring a full-time interpreter or speech-to-text professional
- Addressing access for study abroad programs
- Vocational Rehabilitation services for deaf people
- Other topics related to postsecondary outcomes
“Featuring the Field” Post Format:
Contributors should submit a Word document no more than two (2) pages double-spaced including:
- Title or Topic of the post
- Summary of the situation or scenario
- Reflection (what would you do differently or recommend to others who may go through a similar situation)
- Additional tips, highlights, resources, or suggestions for professionals in the field
- Any references if applicable
- Photograph of author, organization logo, or other appropriate image (if no image provided, NDC will select an relevant stock image for the article)
- Social media tags for you and/or your organization
Submission Process:
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. Email help@nationaldeafcenter.org Subject: Featuring the Field. Contributors will be notified when their post has been selected, and when it will be posted.
Permissions:
NDC reserves the right to edit submissions for length and clarity. By submitting an article you are granting NDC permission to share your content with NDC stakeholders via the NDC listserv community, social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), website, and/or newsletter. If you or your organization have social media pages you would like connected to your article, please include that information in your submission.
