NDC Levels Up to Deafverse 3.0 with Exciting New Features and Tools

Online educational games are popular resources for many parents and teachers, especially when they create an engaging experience that keeps students coming back.

The National Deaf Center on Postsecondary Outcomes (NDC) has launched Deafverse 3.0! This latest version includes a new and improved web-based platform that is faster, lighter, and more mobile and user-friendly while empowering teachers with exciting new tools educational. 

Features

New Teachers Account Type

Manage classroom rosters and track student’s individual progress in the game, making it easier for everyone to experience Deafverse!

Smoother Sign Up and Login Experience

Issues with account activations and verifications have been fixed. Providing an email address is now not required for students.

Play Without an Account

If you’re just curious about the game and prefer not to sign up for an account, that’s fine! You can now play Deafverse without saving your progress.

Enhanced User Interface

Improved comic book feel and more attractive gaming experience.

Improved Audio Experience

Audio has been fixed for World Two and the overall experience has been improved for players who benefit from the voiceover track.

Faster Navigation

The game is now more responsive to your navigation between menus and screens.

Gaming to Build Important Life Skills

The latest edition of the game, World Two: Revenge of the Deep, features an entirely new environment with many more characters for players to meet and work with along the way. It builds upon the lessons learned in World One and focuses on workplace readiness skills by guiding players through the job search process. Players are asked to choose a job that interests them, apply for it, identify marketable skills, prepare a resume, advocate for accommodations during the interview, and practice other valuable transition skills. 

Through these adventures, Deafverse supports foundational skill development in deaf youth by exposing them to real-world scenarios that will happen in the workplace and challenging them to think about how they might best react. 

Using the Choose Your Future! Activity Kit, students can work with their families, teachers, or vocational rehabilitation counselors to decide on goals that align with who they truly are. The activity kit teaches deaf youth how to decide, act, and believe. These learning objectives are specially designed to align with the Workplace Readiness category of Pre-employment Transition Services (pre-ETS).

The Deafverse 3.0 addition of a new account type for teachers will expand on these opportunities for learning and build even greater connections between teachers and students.

  • This Pre-ETS guide addresses instruction in self-advocacy and suggests additional resources about self-determination.

For deaf middle and high school students, there are very few accessible online games or resources. That’s why Deafverse, the first-ever American Sign Language (ASL) accessible online game for deaf teenagers, is the go-to game for at-home learning. This online choose-your-own-adventure game is designed for deaf teenagers to build self-determination and confidence as they learn their rights and develop skills to succeed in their transition from high school to adult life. For customized assistance or referrals, NDC also provides one-on-one help to families, schools, and organizations.
