Isabelle, who is hard-of-hearing, discovered the NDC through her part-time work with the non-profit Association of Medical Professionals with Hearing Losses (AMPHL) and knew she wanted to be a part of a team that focuses on helping DHH students succeed after high school. She struggled a lot during her university years as she was barely given any accommodations aside from preferred seating and the occasional student note taker. It wasn’t until she earned her Paralegal Certificate at DePaul University with CART services when she realized she had the right to proper accommodations she was denied as an undergraduate student. Now, she is passionate about ensuring DHH students have all the access they need to have a great college experience and become successful.

Isabelle grew up orally so she didn’t find the Deaf community and learn ASL until college but since then, she has formed many connections and continues to work towards her goal to become fluent (currently at the conversational level!). She lives outside of Philadelphia and enjoys happy hours with her grandparents and being a Tía to her two nieces and nephew.
