Presentations at AHEAD 2019 to Highlight Accessibility Services and New Toolkit

The National Deaf Center is proud to participate in AHEAD 2019, the annual international conference of the Association on Higher Education and Disability on July 9-13 in Boston, Massachusetts.

The NDC | nav team will present five sessions aligned with the conference theme “Equity & Excellence: Access in Higher Education,” all of which can be attended online for those unable to travel to Boston.

They kick off AHEAD 2019 with a pre-conference session “Reframing Deaf Services to Ending Band-Aid Solutions” presented by Savio Chan, Tia Ivanko,Lauren Kinast, David Litman, and Stephanie Zito. This special session by the full NDC | nav team is designed to help colleges integrate accessibility for deaf students into the fabric of the institution and requires separate registration.

The conference presentations are:

  • Back to the Basics: Assistive Listening Devices for Disability Service Providers – Tia Ivanko and David Litman
  • Navigating Captions and YouTube Media – Lauren Kinast and Stephanie Zito
  • Disability Service Professionals Guide to Deaf Services: Tools for Implementation – Tia Ivanko and Lauren Kinast
  • Captioned Media: Responsibility, Policies, & Strategy – David Litman and Stephanie Zito

Attendees can also visit the NDC booth during the conference for additional resources and to connect with staff members.
