Listening Session: Career Services for Deaf College Students

Event Date: October 24, 2024

On October 24, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM CT, the National Deaf Center hosted a powerful listening session for Career Services, Disability Services, and affiliated offices involved in job training, internships, and fieldwork. Led by Lore Kinast and supported by Kate Lewandowski and Tia Ivanko, the session explored critical questions about how deaf students access career and employment planning supports.

Participants shared insights into the unique challenges deaf students face in navigating career resources and opportunities. The session also highlighted the growing need for specialized training and resources to support these offices in fostering more inclusive and effective services.

The open dialogue and shared experiences will directly inform the National Deaf Center’s ongoing work to bridge gaps in access and empower campuses to create equitable pathways for deaf students’ professional success.
